Whoever has witnessed human suffering will always remember it.
Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. He learned early on what it meant when an ill child could not afford to receive adequate medical treatment – or the desperation of families who could not nourish themselves properly.
On June 25, 1998 – now living in Zurich – he decided to do something about the situation in his hometown. Together with family and friends he founded the charity-organization SEAMA – Swiss Egyptian Alternative Medicine Aid.
In the past few years SEAMA has managed to realize several small projects with the support of members, patrons and friends. The idea is not simply to distribute money but rather to encourage independence and self-responsibility amongst the people receiving help by creating projects suited to them. This plan has been very effective – many of the projects are still running today.
What we have achieved has strengthened us in our endeavour to realize new projects – there are many more poor children in Alexandria.
